Program Description: Mayo Clinic in Arizona transplant program is a high volume transplant center. According to the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) data as of September 7, 2012, Mayo Clinic Arizona was ranked #1 nationally for kidney/pancreas and #11 for kidney in 2011 for total number of transplants performed (http://optn.transplant.hrsa.gov). We performed 35 kdiney pancreas transplants and 265 kidney transplants in 2011. The transplant nephrology fellowship offers a comprehensive multidisciplinary clinical trainign including a dedicated renal pathology and transplant immunology laboratory experience. Additionally, there are several research opportunities with dedicated time for research built into the curriculum. Competitive stipend and benefits package include one paid CME trip and registration during the course of the fellowship, two paid presentation trips per year, and 15 days paid vacation per year.

Program Description: The program will cover comprehensive education in transplant medicine, which includes six months of inpatient clinical service, training in recipient/donor selection, performance of renal transplant biopsies, histocompatibility tissue typing, organ transplant procurement, management of immunosuppressive agents, and evaluation of renal transplant dysfuntion, gaining experience in the immediate and long term care of the transplant recipients. The inpatient clinical service is a joint surgical and medical transplant service, with multidisciplinary daily rounds. Program Description: The transplant nephrology training program at UCSF is a 1 year clinical fellowship. Fellows will spend a total of 6 months on the inpatient service and 6 months in the outpatient setting. The outpatient experience includes living donor evaluations, post-transplant clinic, recipient evaluation clinic, and a weekly selection conference. Didactic teaching includes a lecture series geared toward the transplant fellows (surgery and nephrology) 2-3 times a month, transplant journal club 2 times per month, daily review of pathology with an attending pathologist and transplant nephrology, weekly renal grand rounds, and a structured HLA course.

Program Description: The transplant medicine fellowship program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is designed to provide the trainee with a well-rounded education in clinical kidney transplantation, transplant immunology and in transplant immunology research. At the edn of the one-year program the trainee should be able to function independently in all aspects of clinical kidney transplantation and should be familiar with basic transplant research. The fellowship is primarily clinical. Program Description: At University of Colorado Hospital, we began performing kidney transplants in the early 1960s. Our Kidney Transplant Program was reinvigorated in 1988 by Laurence Chan, M.D., Ph.D. and Igal Kam, M.D. Throughout the years, we have made significant technological advancements that have greatly increased the chances for kidney transplant patients to live normal lives. Program Description: Our Transplant Nephrology Fellowship program provides in-depth training in all aspects of kidney transplantation in an ethnically diverse population: 43% African American, 32% Hispanic, 23% Caucasian. We performed about 120 kidney transplants (about 60% live donor) per year. We have extensive experience in the management of crossmatch positive, ABO-incompatible and morbidly obese kidney transplant recipients. We also perform 30-40 liver transplants and about 20 pancreas alone or simultaneous kidney pancreas transplants. Fellows will gain experience in the management of these patients as well.

Program Description: The University of Michigan Transplant Nephrology Fellowship is a comprehensive clinical and research program in which the trainee will acquire extensive experience in the outpatient and inpatient management of kidney, kidney-pancreas, liver, lung and heart transplant recipients. The trainee is directly involved in the University of Michigan Desensitization and Paired Kidney Exchange Programs, QA and QI programs, and will perform over 50 kidney transplant biopsies over the year of training. The fellow will be exposed to interpretation of histocompatibility data and techniques, matching programs and algorithms, and reporting of program performance metrics. The fellow becomes progressively independent during the year of fellowship, and is expected to complete and publish at least one clinical research project.

Program Description: The fellow will perform supervised care for kidney transplant recipient patients, inpatient and outpatient, at the University of Minnesota Transplant center, the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview and Hennepin County Medical Center. The fellow will have both inpatient and outpatient management responsibilities. On the inpatient service, the fellow will see all kidney and kidney/pancreas transplant recipients on morning rounds conducted jointly between the surgery and nephrology services, seeing each transplant patient independently before and after morning rounds, with responsibility for writing orders, along with the surgery fellow and residents, in a concurrent care model. On the outpatient side the fellow will have their own transplant clinic weekly, as well as see newly discharged transplant recipients, transplant urgent care patients and perform kidney transplant biopsies.  The fellow will participate in a core, didactic, kidney transplantation curriculum, and participate in clinical research to include both a prospective research project and case studies, under the guidance of the Nephrology transplant faculty.

Program Description: The Columbia University Medical Center Renal Transplant program is one of the 10 busiest programs in the US. Program Description: The Transplant Program is designed to provide the Fellow the opportunity for clinical experience that meets the guidelines for accreditation as a renal transplant physician. Program Description: The Kidney Transplant Center at Montefiore Medical Center – Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY, initiated in 1967, is one of the oldest continuously operating UNOS approved Kidney Transplant program in the USA. 110-120 kidney transplants are performed each year. There are currently 900 patients on the waiting list for kidney transplantation and more than 1,400 kidney transplant recipients are currently followed-up at our center. The fellows rotate at Montefiore Tissue Typing Laboratory for 2 weeks during their fellowship. Program Description: This is a one year training experience that begins at the time a candidate is board eligible or certified for the subspecialty of nephrology. The training program includes a six-month clinical experience in which the trainee will manage at least 30 renal transplant recipients as the primary care giver in both in- and outpatient settings, donor evaluation, pretransplant and recipient evaluation, and all prominent features for the clinical experience. The trainee is expected to manage immunosuppression, fluid-electrolyte balance, acid base balance, blood pressure and glucose controle, and anti-infective prophylaxis for all newly engrafted recipients. There is also an additional six-months of elective time including rotations through transplant pathology, tissue typing, organ bank activities, transplant of other organs, pediatric renal transplantation, and research. Each trainee is expected to be a participant in a clinical and/or basic transplant research project during the year with the expectation that publishable data will be obtained by the trainee. In addition to these clinical and research activities, the training program includes a journal club, weekly transplant research conference, weekly transplant patient conference, monthly renal transplant biopsy conference, as well as other didactic activities in the Division of Nephrology.

Program Description: The objective of this one year fellowship is to provide advanced training in kidney and kidney-pancreas transplantation. The fellowship is intended for a nephrology resident who has completed tow years of core nephrology training. The candidates will be responsible for securing salary support for his/her fellowship training.
