The 2013 AST Achievement Awards Program is now closed.
The deadline for award nominations was 11:59 PM PACIFIC TIME on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2012. No nominations or supplementary documents are accepted after the deadline.
AST Basic Science Investigator Award
Nominee must be a mid-career investigator at the Assistant Professor Level more than seven (7) years from initial appointment as Assistant Professor or at the Associate Professor Level.
Nominee must have made substantial contributions to the field of transplantation medicine
Nominee must show signs of a bright future ahead in transplantation; therefore, the award may be used as a device for career development.
Nominee's service to the AST will be taken into consideration during the review process.
Nominee and nominator must be active members of the AST by the submission deadline. If the nominee/nominator are not members, he/she must submit a completed membership application prior to the submission deadline (with expectation that membership will be active before the award review occurs). Membership dues must be paid to date by January 1, 2013; otherwise, the nomination will not be considered.

No single individual can receive the Basic Science Investigator Award within five years of receiving a previous AST award.
Nomination application (online)
Two (2) letters of recommendation submitted on behalf of a nominee. One out of the two letters of recommendation must be written by the nominator. Both letters must be uploaded to the application site and the original copies mailed to the AST National Office.
All information will be saved in a secure, password protected environment. At any time in the nomination process, the nominator/submitter will be able to save the nomination and return to the site to complete it at a later date, prior to the deadline.
A nominator must:
Create and complete an online nomination application
Upload the nominee's CV
Upload the letters of recommendation and mail the original copies to the AST National Office
The letters of recommendation with original/electronic signatures on institutional letterhead must be uploaded to the application site by the submission deadline. In addition, the original letters must be mailed to the AST National Office. These letters must be postmarked by the submission deadline and have an original signature on institutional letterhead.

The AST Awards and Nominating Committee will review the nominations received by the submission deadline and will make final recommendations to the AST Board of Directors. Nominees and nominators will be notified of the outcome in March 2013. Recipients will will be recognized at the AST Awards Ceremony during the 2013 American Transplant Congress, May 18-21, 2013 in Seattle, WA. Recipients are expected to attend the 2013 ATC and must register for the congress. Registration is NOT included as part of the AST award.
