AST Grants

The 2013 AST Grants Program is now closed.

The deadline for grants submissions was 11:59 PM PACIFIC TIME on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2012. No applications or supplementary documents are accepted after the deadline.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  1. All applications for the AST Grants Program must be completed by 11:59 PM PACIFIC TIME on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2012. The submission site will automatically close after the deadline. No applications or supplementary documents will be accepted after the submission deadline.
  2. The funding of any grant and the total number of grants awarded by the AST is dependent upon budgetary constraints in a given year. Grants may be funded for a one or two year period.
  3. Letters of recommendation with signatures on institutional letterhead must be uploaded to the online application. Original letters of recommendation, with original signatures on institutional letterhead must also be mailed to the AST National Office and must be postmarked by the submission deadline.
  4. Applicants for AST Faculty Development Grants and sponsors of AST Fellowship Grants, must be members of the AST. If applicants or sponsors are not members, they must submit a completed membership application prior to the submission deadline of Nov. 19. It is expected that membership will be active before the grant recipient is selected. 2013 AST membership dues must be paid by January 1, 2013; otherwise the nomination will not be considered.
  5. To apply for membership, please visit the AST home page, www.a-s-t.org and click the Join AST Today link.
  6. Recipients of an AST grant will be recognized at the 2013 American Transplant Congress, May 18-21, 2013 in Seattle, WA. Grant recipients are expected to attend the 2013 ATC and must register for the congress. Registration is NOT included with the AST grant.
  7. No indirect costs are permitted.
  8. Research must begin on July 1, 2013.
  9. Grant funding is NOT transferable from one recipient to another.
  10. DISCLAIMER: the AST will NOT assume responsibility for any clinical study funded by the AST Grants Program. Such proposals must be IRB-approved. Any responsibility will be assumed by the PI and the funded institution.

The AST supports a wide range of basic and clinical research topics. Research topics that involve under-represented areas including minorities, women and pediatrics are strongly encouraged. AST members should bring this program to the attention of their colleagues in the field of transplantation at their institutions and support their applications.
