The Basic Science Investigator Awards recognize investigators outstanding contributions to basic science. Awards are offered to highlight different levels of career.
The award recipients are recognized during the American Transplant Congress and receive a commemorative award.
Recipients are expected to attend the ATC; registration is not included as part of the AST award.
Senior basic scientists in the field of transplantation at the Professor level who have made significant contributions and be recognized as an expert in his/her field.
Mid-career investigators at the either Assistant Professor level for more than seven years or at the Associate Professor level who show signs of a bright future ahead in transplantation; therefore, the award may be used as a device for career development.
Early career investigators within the first seven (7) years of initial appointment as an Assistant Professor who show contributions to the field of transplantation medicine since gaining independence and show promise of continued contributions to the field; therefore, the award may be used as a mechanism for career development.
