Clinical Science Investigator Awards

The Clinical Science Investigator Awards recognize investigators outstanding contributions to clinical science. Awards are offered to highlight different levels of career.

General Eligibility Criteria
  1. Nominee's service to the AST will be taken into consideration during the review process.
  2. Nominee and nominator must be active members of the AST or apply for membership by the submission deadline with the expectation that membership will be active before the award review occurs. You can apply for membership here.
  3. An individual cannot receive the AST Clinical Science Investigator Award type within five years of receiving a previous AST award.
AWARD

The award recipients are recognized during the American Transplant Congress and receive a commemorative award.

Recipients are expected to attend the ATC; registration is not included as part of the AST award.

Clinical Science Established Investigator Award

Senior clinical scientists in the field of transplantation at the Professor level who have made significant contributions and be recognized as an expert in his/her field.

Clinical Science Investigator Award

Mid-career investigators at the either Assistant Professor level for more than seven years or at the Associate Professor level who show signs of a bright future ahead in transplantation; therefore, the award may be used as a device for career development.

Clinical Science Career Development Award

Early career investigators within the first seven (7) years of initial appointment as an Assistant Professor who show contributions to the field of transplantation medicine since gaining independence and show promise of continued contributions to the field; therefore, the award may be used as a mechanism for career development.

The AST Achievement Awards nominations are open now through April 1.

Submit

In 2025, nominations open in February and close in April. Nominees and nominators are notified of the outcome by June 1.

  1. Nominee's institution, department, email
  2. Nominee's CV
  3. Letter of recommendation written by the nominator on institutional letterhead
Additional Application Requirements 

The Clinical Science Investigator Award and Clinical Science Career Development Award applications also require:

  1. A second letter of recommendation not written by the nominator on institutional letterhead
