Transplant Advocacy Award

The Transplant Advocacy award recognizes an individual's contribution and advocacy to important areas.

The following areas include but are not limited to:

  • Transplant Recipient Quality of Life
  • Organ Donation
  • Transplant Education
  • Recipient and Donor Rights
  • Transplant Research Funding
Eligibility Criteria
  1. Nominee must be a transplant recipient, candidate, live donor, donor family and/or community advocate who has championed a transplant donation cause.
  2. Nominator may be an AST member or the transplant community at large.
  3. AST members are not eligible to receive this award.
Award

The award recipient is recognized during the American Transplant Congress, receives a commemorative crystal award, and is provided some reimbursement for their family to attend the recognition ceremony.

Amy Silverstein

This award is named in memory of an important community member, Amy Silverstein. Ms. Silverstein was one of the founding members of the AST Transplant Community Advisory Council, a two-time heart recipient, and staunch advocate for transplant patient rights.
