AST Board of Directors Election Results

The American Society of Transplantation (AST) announced its recently elected 2020-2021 board members, including its new President, President-elect, and Treasurer, at the American Transplant Congress (ATC), which was held virtually on May 30 – June 1, 2020. The AST inducted its new president, Richard Formica, MD, FAST during its annual meeting on June 1, 2020.

Dr. Formica currently serves as the Director of Transplant Medicine, the Director of the Outpatient Transplantation Service, the Medical Director of Adult and Pediatric Kidney Transplantation and Medical Director Pancreas Transplantation at Yale University School of Medicine.

John Gill, MD was elected as President-elect and will assume the AST presidency in June 2021. Dr. Gill is currently a Professor of Medicine with tenure at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Dr. Gill assumes the role of AST President-elect after serving as Treasurer. 

Josh Levitsky, MD was elected as AST’s Treasurer. Dr. Levitsky is currently a Professor of Medicine and Surgery in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

Three new councilors-at-large were also announced. Joining the Board are Burnett "Beau" Kelly MD, MBA, FACS, FAST, Linda Ohler, MSN, RN, CCTC, FAAN, FAST, and Sean Pinney, MD, FACC.

Dianne McKay, MD, FAST, David P. Foley, MD, FACS, FAST, Marian G. Michaels, MD, MPH, FAST, and Deborah B. Adey, MD, FAST completed their terms on the AST Board.
