Announcing Transfer of AST Renal Transplant Fellowship Accreditation Program

The American Society of Transplantation is pleased to annouce the transfer of the AST's Renal Transplant Fellowship Training Accreditation Program to the newly created AST Transplant Nephrology Fellowship Training Accreditation Program, LLC, a limited liability company wholly owned by the AST. The Accreditation Program's mission under the LLC remains the same - to accredit institutions that provide specialty transplant nephrology training.

Oversight and governance of the LLC will be conducted by the LLC Board of Managers who are responsible for the final approval of programs. One member of the LLC Board of Managers is elected as chair for a one-year term. The chair will conduct and preside over the business and policies of the LLC. Another member of the board is elected as chair of the LLC Review Committee, also for a one-year term. The review committee chair oversees and coordinates the accreditation application and re-accreditation activities and reports back to the board of managers. The review committee is comprised of members who have appropriate experience and training in transplant nephrology. The review committee is responsible for visiting and reviewing programs that apply for initial or re-accreditation.

Dr. Larry Melton, chair
Dr. Deborah Adey, chair of the review committee
Dr. Don Hricik, member-at-large
Dr. Michelle Josephson, member-at-large
Dr. Edward Kraus, member-at-large
