The American Society of Transplantation (AST) announced its newly elected 2026 Board of Directors, including its new President, President-Elect, Treasurer, and Councilors-at-Large. The results were announced during the 2026 AST Town Hall on June 22, 2026.
Dr. Nicole Turgeon assumed the role of AST President. Dr. Turgeon is a kidney-pancreas transplant surgeon who serves as Chief of the Division of Transplant Surgery at Dell Medical S2chool and Transplant Director for the Abdominal Transplant Center at The University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. David Foley transitioned into his new role as AST Past President after completing his term as President.
Dr. Jonathan Maltzman, a physician-scientist and transplant nephrologist at Stanford University, is now the Society's President-Elect.
Dr. Alex Wiseman, Executive Director of Kidney Transplantation at AdventHealth Transplant and Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver, Colorado, was elected AST Treasurer.

The Society also recognized outgoing Board members for their service. AST Past President Dr. Jon Kobashigawa of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center completed his term on the Board of Directors. In addition, Councilors-at-Large Dr. Deirdre Sawinski of Weill Cornell Medicine, Dr. John Friedewald of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and Dr. Anne Dipchand of The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) concluded their Board service.
