AST Statement on Hurricane Harvey

The tragedy in Texas and Louisiana has impacted thousands of residents and their livelihoods. The AST commends the efforts of those who have provided support during this tragedy and would like to thank any members who have already helped those in need.

Communities have come together in an extraordinary way to help those impacted by this historic storm. Volunteers are working tirelessly to aid those in need of food, shelter, and medical assistance. The AST applauds the efforts of all organizations, volunteers, and supporters for their selfless work to help those impacted by the storm.

Our thoughts are with all of those affected by Hurricane Harvey, especially any candidates, recipients, living donor and donor families as well as our colleagues in the area’s transplant centers OPOs, and dialysis centers.

We encourage our membership to contribute in some way as you feel led and are able- whether it be financial, through donations of goods, or even direct service.  It will take some time for this area to recover from the devastation left in this storm’s wake.

Sincerely,

Ronald G. Gill, PhD
President
