Dear AST Members,
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our colleague and friend, Dr. Josh Levitsky, on February 18. Josh served the AST in many roles throughout his career, most recently as Immediate Past President. He was also the Academic Chief of Hepatology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Josh’s impact on the field of transplantation was profound. He was an outstanding educator, researcher, and clinician, deeply committed to advancing our field. He was beloved by all who knew him, and he mentored many trainees who ascended to leadership ranks in academic and leadership roles within AST. Above all, he was a compassionate physician who touched the lives of countless patients.
More will follow in the coming days as we pay tribute to Josh and his lasting legacy. We welcome your memories and tributes to Josh here.
Sincerely,
Jon Kobashigawa, MD
President, American Society of Transplantation
