What inspired you to pursue a career in transplantation?
My younger sister is a two time living donor kidney recipient. My father and aunt were her living donors. I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in transplant to be able to help people like my sister. In 2023 I removed my mom’s kidney for donation.
What kind of shoes does a transplant professional wear on the job?
I am “famous” in my hospital for my sparkley red Dnasko shoes. Just like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. I think surgeons need shoes with some pizazz since we wear boring scrubs all the time! My shoes are part of my personality!
