Shirish Huprikar, MD Appointed as Chief Medical Officer of The Mount Sinai Hospital

On August 7, 2017, The Mount Sinai Hospital announced that Shirish Huprikar, MD, FIDSA, FAST, has been appointed Chief Medical Officer and Vice President, based on his performance in the interim role since November 2016.

Dr. Huprikar has demonstrated the ability to lead quality efforts throughout the organization and has served as a clinical leader in promoting excellence in patient care. With a vision to align quality efforts and standardize clinical practices across the hospital, he has collaborated with several departments and institutes to facilitate the transformation of their quality infrastructure and performance improvement plans. He has also demonstrated leadership in the oversight of our serious adverse event process, with a focus on enhancing patient safety and implementing performance improvement strategies.

Dr. Huprikar, whose career at The Mount Sinai Hospital began 20 years ago with a residency and fellowship in internal medicine and infectious diseases, epitomizes a collaborative leadership style that will promote an environment that emphasizes coordination and teamwork in the delivery of patient-centered care, staff engagement, and a culture of safety.
