The AST is forming a task force on Living Donation Incentives to explore ethical, social, and financial considerations around incentivizing living donation in the United States.
The task force will:
Review recent legislative proposals, such as the End Kidney Deaths Act (EKDA) and Living Donor Protection Act (LDPA).
Develop a framework of ethically acceptable and feasible incentives for living donors.
Draft a key position statement or related resource.
Expectations for Task Force Members:
Attend regular virtual meetings (approximately 1-2 per month).
Participate in discussions and provide input based on your area of expertise.
Review and contribute to drafts of the consensus statement or related documents.
Collaborate with other members to achieve the task force’s objectives within a 6–8-month timeline.
For this task force, we are seeking a diverse group of 12-15 members, including patient representatives and experts in transplant nephrology, hepatology, ethics, and thoracic transplantation.
