A.I. & Transplantation Webinar Series

A collaborative webinar series on the applications of A.I. in transplantation.

The AST Transplant Administration and Quality Management Community of Practice (TxAQM COP) and Thoracic and Critical Care Community of Practice (TCC COP), with support from the AST Education Committee, present a 7-webinar collaborative series on "A.I. & Transplantation." Starting with the basics of artificial intelligence (A.I.) and transplantation, and moving to the applications of A.I. to transplant specialties and beyond, these sessions are designed to help the viewer:

  1. Understand the fundamentals of A.I. concepts and tools,
  2. Explore its benefits and limitations in transplantation, and
  3. Preview the new and potential applications of A.I. to transplantation.

Session #1: Basics of A.I. in Transplantation

Dr. Dorry Segev begins the "A.I. and Transplantation" series by providing a working understanding of what A.I. means and discusses the various tools and concepts commonly referenced with applications of A.I. to transplantation. This session was run as part of the T3 Webinar Series. It is available on-demand for $25, but free for AST members and original registrants.

Session #2: Applications of A.I. to Heart Transplantation

Dr. Rohan Goswami begins the "Applications of A.I. to Transplantation" portion of the series by discussing A.I. and Heart transplantation. He briefly reviews A.I. principles and then discusses A.I. in heart transplantation, physician evolution, and future directions. Hosted by AST's TxAQM COP and TCC COP.

Session #3: Translational Diagnostics with Computer Vision Technology Using New Technology to Tackle Old Problems in Heart Transplantation

Dr. Eliot Peyster continues the discussion on "Applications of A.I. to Heart Transplantation" by covering 21st century histology with computer vision, digital pathology, and ‘Pathomics’, the shortcomings of traditional histology in heart transplantation, usage cases in transplant, and future directions and conclusions. Dr. Alexandra Strauss continues the "Applications of A.I. to Transplantation" series by covering the landscape of A.I. research in liver transplantation and opportunities for A.I. application.
