The AST living Donor Community of Practice (LDCOP) Genetics Workgroup (GWG) has created the "Renal Genetics in Transplantation Webinar Series" to cover the myriad of conditions in transplantation that have a genetic basis. Each session is presented by a topic expert who can speak to the biologic underpinnings, disease-causing variants, diagnostic approaches and interpretation of testing results to better inform the approach to donor and recipient candidate workup.
Series Goals and Objectives:
- The series aims to disseminate the broad strokes of when and how genetic testing could be applied to the right population and the ways this could enhance current living donor and recipient candidate assessment. The intended audience includes the AST membership and others who are involved in transplantation.
- The series will demystify the use of genetic testing in the transplant population and encourage broader adoption of this invaluable tool among providers and transplant centers and to build a community of those interested in transplant genetics/genomics.
