AST has partnered with Arizona Outback Adventures to provide you and your guests with four exciting adventures to choose from. AST group activities will be on Friday, February 26 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Call to inquire about individual reservations on other days.

GUIDED HIKING TOUR

DESCRIPTION: The Sonoran Desert has been a source of wonder and a motivation for exploration for millennia. The Guided Desert Hiking Tour will give you a chance to experience this remarkable ecosystem in the company of expert guide staff. Most tours go to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve unless otherwise requested. At the start of the hike guides ensure that everyone has plenty of water and high-energy snacks will be provided as well. Guides will open up this amazing resource with information, anecdotes, and observations of the area through which the carefully selected trail winds. Guests will be able to examine the unique adaptations of the otherworldly cacti and desert vegetation, and discuss the life ways and survival strategies of the animals that make this arid land home. Guests will take note of seasonal blooms and migratory birds, and learn how settlers throughout history thrived on the surprising abundance found in this environment. Bring your camera and your wonder, and leave with the memories and images of this incomparable landscape. Tour includes professional safety-certified guides (1 guide per 8 guests). Each guide is equipped with radio/cell phone, first aid kit, as well as extra water for guests; iced bottled water and snacks during the activity.

GUIDED KAYAKING TOUR

DESCRIPTION: Pilot your own craft down a beginner-friendly, Class-I river. Our inflatable kayaks are stable and easy to maneuver, creating the perfect platform for splashing, relaxing, or wildlife viewing. The river is an indispensable oasis in the vast Sonoran Desert, attracting a multitude of birds and wildlife – including bald eagles and wild horses! The river adventures are conducted on both the Lower Salt and Lower Verde Rivers, selected based on current water flows. These tours are all accompanied by professional guide staff, which will oversee the instruction, safety, and educational opportunities for participants as they maneuver themselves downstream. Tour includes iced bottled water and snacks for the duration of the tour, life jacket (PFD), and guide dry bags.

DURATION:  4-hours round-trip including transfer time and activity time

WHAT TO BRING: Clothing appropriate for the weather, plus water shoes/sandals/old sneakers. Footwear must be worn at all times. Sunglasses, sunscreen, towel, camera, medications, lip balm, hat and anything else you want to bring

GUIDED MOUNTAIN BIKING TOUR

DESCRIPTION: Most Mountain Bike Tours go to McDowell Mountain Park unless otherwise requested. Nestled in the lower Verde River basin, the 21,099-acre McDowell Mountain Park is a desert jewel in the northeast Valley. With over 50 miles of mountain bike trails and spectacular views, the park is famous for the quality of mountain bike terrain. The mountain bike guide staff will accompany guests from their accommodations in town to the start of our ride. Upon arrival at the trailhead, riders will find a well-organized cache of high performance bikes suited to a variety of abilities, all necessary support and safety equipment, bottled water and snacks for the duration of the excursion, and an expert team of professional guides to provide instruction, supervision and leadership for the day. Trails and guides are carefully selected to satisfy the varying levels of expectation found in any group. Some guests will desire a leisurely cruise with all the interpretive highlights; some will want an invigorating workout in rugged and challenging terrain. Most will want something in between, and the guide staff is expert at matching guests’ desires to a safe and satisfying itinerary.

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS and ENHANCEMENTS
Full Suspension Mountain Bikes: 
$15 additional per person (participant heights required in advance)
Pedals: With advanced notice of the rider's height we will provide clip-in pedals upon request at no additional charge. 
Pedal types available: Flat (standard), Shimano SPD, Crank Bros Egg Beaters, and Time ATAC. Participants are also welcome to bring their own pedals.
No rental of cycling shoes provided and using road specific pedals for mountain biking is not recommended.

GUIDED STAND UP PADDLE BOARD (SUP) TOUR

DESCRIPTION: Get ready to walk on water! Join us and experience a thrilling new perspective of nature from the deck of a Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP). The adventure starts with the excitement and ease of paddling a SUP on the gentle Lower Salt River, exploring the beautiful, one of a kind Sonoran Desert and the river environment. It’s the perfect playground to discover more about the natural history of this oasis or simply learn and practice proper SUP techniques. Paddling a SUP is a great activity for the whole family, allows a full-body workout, and provides the opportunity to witness incredible views of the mountains and wildlife.

DURATION: 4-hours round trip from most valley resorts including transfer time and activity time.
