SRTR has updated the organ procurement organization (OPO) yield models and plans to integrate the models into the January 2018 OPO-specific reports (OSRs). These models are used to derive expected organ yield for deceased donors as reported in the OSRs. As part of the process for updating the models, SRTR sought feedback on potentially important predictors and interactions among predictors; the responses directly contributed to incorporation of new predictors, for example, warm ischemia time for donation after circulatory death donors and ejection fraction. On August 7, 2017, The Mount Sinai Hospital announced that Shirish Huprikar, MD, FIDSA, FAST, has been appointed Chief Medical Officer and Vice President, based on his performance in the interim role since November 2016. Dr. Huprikar has demonstrated the ability to lead quality efforts throughout the organization and has served as a clinical leader in promoting excellence in patient care. The AST recently received a donation from a young fundraiser who decided to open a lemonade stand for the organization.  Nai Azzi, the daughter of AST member, Jamil Azzi, recently organized a lemonade stand to support the AST. She offered free homemade lemonade and requested donations. Nai raised $130 for the AST.   Well done, Nai!

The REMS for NULOJIX (belatacept) was originally approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on June 15, 2011. On May 9, 2017, the FDA determined that a REMS is no longer required for NULOJIX and has eliminated the REMS requirement. As a consequence, the distribution of the Pre-Infusion Checklist within the NULOJIX carton will cease. The FDA determined that a communication plan was no longer necessary to include as an element of the approved REMS because the communication plan had been completed and the most recent assessment demonstrated that the communication plan had met its goals....
