AST Board of Directors Election Results

The American Society of Transplantation (AST) announced its recently elected 2018-2019 board members, including its new president, president-elect, and treasurer, at the American Transplant Congress (ATC) in Seattle, WA. The AST inducted its new president, Dianne McKay, MD during its annual meeting on June 4, 2018.

Dr. McKay is the medical director of the kidney transplant program at UC San Diego Health. Her expertise includes pre and post kidney transplant care, pregnancy in transplant recipients, and the care of young adults who are transitioning from pediatric to adult transplant programs. Dr. McKay has been actively involved with numerous committees and Communities of Practice since joining the AST over 25 years ago. She was first elected to the AST Board of Directors in 2012 and has served as councilor-at-large, secretary, and president-elect. She has also served as Chair of the Conflict of Interest Committee and the Women’s Health Community of Practice (WHCOP).

Emily Blumberg, MD was elected as president-elect. She will assume the AST presidency in June 2019. Dr. Blumberg is a Transplant Infectious Diseases specialist and the Director of the Transplant Infectious Diseases Program and the Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.

John Gill, MD was elected as AST’s Treasurer. He currently a clinician scientist and a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

Three new councilors-at-large were also announced. Joining the Board will be Lisa Potter, PharmD, Jonathan Maltzman, MD, PhD, and Howie Gebel, PhD.
